Send Push

New Delhi, April 12, 2025 Rapid shifts in weather patterns are gripping large parts of the country, with the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing alerts for thunderstorms, rainfall, and rising humidity across several northern and southern states. From Delhi to Kerala, and from Rajasthan to Assam, the country is witnessing an active spell of pre-monsoon disturbances.

Northern States to Witness Thunderstorms and Sudden Showers

The IMD has forecasted intermittent rain and strong winds in several parts of northern India, including Uttar Pradesh, Delhi-NCR, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh. Many regions reported a noticeable drop in temperatures due to scattered showers and gusty winds. In Delhi, late-night rainfall offered a much-needed respite from the rising heat, with temperatures hovering between 36–40°C expected on April 14.

States like Punjab and Haryana are also likely to receive rain over the next 24 hours. However, heatwave conditions may persist in isolated parts of Rajasthan and Haryana, further complicating the weather situation.

Unstable Weather in East India: Rain, Humidity, and Heat Combine

In Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal, the weather is expected to remain unstable. The IMD has projected sporadic showers over Jharkhand and Odisha on Sunday, while Kolkata and surrounding regions may experience intense humidity. Temperatures across Bihar and Jharkhand are expected to remain between 34–38°C, combining high heat with occasional rainfall.

Southern and Northeastern States Brace for More Rain

Southern states are also under weather scrutiny, as Kerala and Karnataka are expected to receive light to moderate rainfall on April 13. Coastal regions such as Chennai will likely experience a hot and humid climate, with temperatures between 33–36°C, although light showers may bring brief relief.

In the western region, Gujarat will continue to face dry and hot conditions, with no immediate sign of rainfall. Mumbai will remain hot and sticky, with temperatures in the 32–35°C range and no rain in the forecast.

Meanwhile, the northeast, particularly Meghalaya and Assam, can expect continued rainfall activity, providing a cooling effect after a string of warmer days.
