Jeddah, April 18 — Seven-time Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton has spoken out ahead of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, defending Ferrari amid growing scrutiny and highlighting the Italian racing giant’s unmatched legacy. The British driver, who joined Ferrari for the 2025 season, acknowledged the immense attention the team draws, calling it both a privilege and a pressure point.
“Ferrari Is the Greatest Team in F1 History,” Says HamiltonIn an official statement, Hamilton addressed what he called the exaggerated perception of turmoil within Ferrari. “Ferrari is often labeled as a ‘crisis team’ and people amplify its challenges,” he said. “But it’s expected — this is the greatest team in Formula 1 history. Naturally, there are more stories and opinions around it.”
Hamilton praised the energy and passion inside Ferrari, noting the importance of preserving its culture while navigating intense media and fan scrutiny. “We want to harness that energy and passion and protect it, because no other team gets this much attention,” he added.
Jeddah Corniche Circuit: A Favorite, But Dangerous TrackCalling the Jeddah Corniche Circuit his favorite, Hamilton admitted the high-speed street circuit is not for the faint-hearted. “I love this track. It’s extremely fast, and it really challenges the drivers,” he noted. “The heat, rapid conditions, and G-forces through high-speed corners make it very demanding.”
He emphasized the strategic significance of the race, predicting that most teams would stick to a one-stop strategy unless high temperatures force a change. “If the temperature rises, two pit stops could spice up the competition.”
Progress in Shanghai, But Challenges RemainHamilton recently clinched his first sprint race victory of the season in Shanghai, but couldn’t replicate the performance in the main race, finishing outside the podium. Despite solid performance on medium tires, an unexpected safety car incident forced a shift to hard tires, affecting Ferrari’s race strategy.
He commented, “The experience in Bahrain was positive, but that doesn’t guarantee a repeat. The new car is challenging, and adapting to a fresh driving style is an ongoing process.”
Hamilton Embraces the Ferrari ChallengeHamilton concluded by admitting that it’s tough to consistently adapt to new race conditions and technologies but remains committed to evolving with the team. His remarks have set a confident and determined tone ahead of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, where Ferrari will once again be under the spotlight.
