Send Push

JAIPUR, April 13 Rajasthan is on high alert as a severe heatwave is set to grip the state from April 14 to 16, following a brief spell of unseasonal storms and showers. On Saturday, over 20 districts witnessed sudden gusty winds, thunderstorms, and even hail, triggered by a fresh Western Disturbance. This temporary weather shift brought some relief, but meteorological forecasts indicate that scorching temperatures are on the horizon.

Western Disturbance Brings Temporary Relief with Rain and Hail

The arrival of a new Western Disturbance led to an abrupt change in Rajasthan’s weather over the weekend. Several regions experienced strong winds, rain, and localized hailstorms. The most significant rainfall was recorded in Bahadurpur, Alwar, with 29.0 mm. This unexpected weather brought a slight dip in temperatures and a cool respite, especially in eastern Rajasthan.

Heatwave Alert: Temperatures to Soar up to 46°C

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave warning effective from April 14. The alert is particularly critical for border districts where temperatures could surge to between 45°C and 46°C. Jaisalmer is expected to reach 44–45°C by April 15, while western border regions will begin experiencing severe heat from April 14. The intensity of the heatwave is forecast to peak on April 16, especially in Jodhpur, Bikaner, and Shekhawati regions, where extreme heatwave conditions may prevail.

Dry Spell and Temperature Surge Expected Statewide

Starting Sunday, April 13, weather conditions across Rajasthan are expected to turn dry, with a notable rise in temperatures over the next four to five days. The average humidity levels on Saturday ranged between 8% and 80%, with Kota recording the highest temperature at 42.5°C—3.7 degrees above normal.

Residents are advised to take necessary precautions against the extreme heat, especially during peak daytime hours. The IMD continues to monitor evolving patterns and urges people to stay updated with official advisories.
