Jaipur: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Saturday conducted raids at seven locations linked to Sujanaram Choudhary, a transport inspector stationed at the Sirohi district transport office, in a case alleging assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
ACB teams initiated simultaneous searches early morning in Mount Abu, Bhinmal (Jalore), Sirohi, and Jodhpur. ACB officials said a confidential complaint had been received alleging that Choudhary had been accepting bribes for vehicle registration, issuing licences, and other transport services such as inspections and border clearance. The illicit funds were reportedly used to purchase properties worth crores of rupees in his and his family members' names.
Following verification by the bureau's intelligence wing, investigators discovered that Choudhary had acquired residential and commercial properties in Mount Abu, Bhinmal, Sirohi, and Jodhpur significantly exceeding his legitimate income. A case was registered estimating assets worth approximately Rs 2.5 crore, which is 201% more than his lawful earnings.
During the operation, officials confirmed ownership of at least 14 residential and commercial properties. Notably, an 8,000-square-foot mansion was found, featuring high-end interiors, 21 air conditioners, luxury furniture, expensive refrigerators and televisions, and other premium fittings. Experts are currently assessing its market value.
Another lavish house in Jodhpur's posh Ashapurna City, Pal Village area, was also discovered with similar luxury interiors and is being valued by experts. Additionally, officials confirmed the presence of another house and a shop in Jodhpur. The bureau also uncovered that Choudhary had recently purchased another costly bungalow in Mount Abu, where illegal construction was underway. The municipal administration was informed and unauthorised construction materials were seized from the site. Further searches revealed that Choudhary owned multiple plots in Bhinmal, Jalore, and Mount Abu. Evidence of additional investments in the names of his family members has also emerged.
