Who was Abu Saiullah- Lashkar terror mastermind behind RSS, IISc attacks shot dead in Pakistan

Abu Saiullah, a senior Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist linked to three major terror attacks in India, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Pakistan’s Sindh province on Sunday.

Saiullah was under security cover provided by the Pakistani government and had been living in Matli, Sindh. According to reports, he left his residence on Sunday afternoon and was fatally shot near a crossing. The identities of the attackers remain unknown.

The killing of Abu Saiullah comes days after the Indian Army’s Operation Sindoor, in which nearly 100 terrorists were neutralised. Among those killed were high-value targets such as Yusuf Azhar, Abdul Malik Rauf, and Mudasir Ahmed. The recent surge in targeted operations has also included strikes on terror headquarters like Lashkar-e-Taiba’s base in Muridke and Jaish-e-Mohammed’s centre in Bahawalpur.

Saiullah's death, though not officially claimed by any group, has raised questions about internal rivalries, intelligence failures, or silent crackdowns by Pakistan under international pressure.


Who was Abu Saiullah?

• Abu Saiullah, whose real name was Razaullah Nizamani, was a senior operative of the Pakistan-based terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba.
• He masterminded the 2006 attack on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) headquarters in Nagpur, Maharashtra. The attack involved heavily armed terrorists who planned a large-scale strike but were intercepted by police.
• He played a key role in the 2005 shooting at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bengaluru, where a professor was killed and several others injured in India’s first-ever terror attack on a scientific institution.
• He was also involved in the 2001 attack on a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camp in Rampur, Uttar Pradesh, which left seven personnel dead.
