A tragic incident unfolded when a bride's newly-wed husband took his own life shortly after what she described as a "perfect honeymoon." The situation became more poignant when she later received flowers he had arranged before his death.

Isabel Coles from Southern Pines, North Carolina, married Christopher Coles in September 2024. They had met on a dating app a year and a half earlier and were described as "incredibly happy" together.

The couple chose to celebrate their honeymoon at a beachfront music festival in Asbury Park, New Jersey, US, as music was fundamental to their relationship, The Mirror US reported.

After returning from the festival, Isabel, aged 32, noticed her husband's unusual behaviour, but he wouldn't discuss what was troubling him.

The following morning, the 28-year-old army veteran left their home carrying a handgun and walked towards a nearby forest, despite his wife's attempts to prevent him. His body was discovered the next day after he had died by suicide.

Isabel mentioned that her husband showed no previous signs of emotional distress and was performing ordinary household tasks like folding laundry before his death. Isabel, residing in Southern Pines, North Carolina, recounted the events in a social media video that went viral, stating: "We were so insanely happy and in love."

"We went to the Sea. Music was a huge part of our relationship; it was the perfect way to celebrate our marriage," she said.

"We flew back home, and he stayed up all night putting our guest information into our website for the ceremony in May. In the morning, he was folding laundry, and things were a little weird. I asked him what was wrong, and he said 'nothing'," she added.

"He went downstairs and tried to get out. I stood at the front door and asked what was going on. He got out and started heading towards the woods. I ran upstairs to get shoes on and realized he had taken his handgun," she added.

His parents travelled from Georgia to assist in the search, with his father ultimately discovering him the next morning.

Isabel expressed her shock, noting his successful career and driven personality. She received numerous messages from people commenting on their apparent happiness.

Christopher had proposed after completing a marathon and was keen to marry in September before his October deployment.

Isabel revealed they often endured long separations due to Christopher's military service, during which he would write daily letters. "He wrote to me every single day, telling me about his day, almost like talking to me."

"My husband had just come back at the end of August and wanted to get married in case something happens to me or him, because the military didn't have to let him come home."

"He was training for a marathon, and I supported him through that. After he was done running the marathon, he dropped down on one knee and proposed to me," she asserted.

"He said he could never have accomplished what he did without my love and support."

In an unexpected turn of events, Isabel received a bouquet from her late husband months afterwards, which he had arranged whilst serving in the military.

Earlier, "in February, I got a flower delivery from him and freaked out."

"I contacted the florist and they said he ordered the flowers in September because he knew he would be deployed and travelling back around Valentine's Day."

Her video garnered nearly 40 million views, though some viewers criticised her for sharing the story and blamed her for his death.
