The Sultanate of Oman has officially been announced as the host for the inaugural Asia Rugby Emirates Sevens Trophy (AREST) — a sanctioned international rugby tournament taking place from 24–26 October 2025. The announcement was made on 20 August 2025 at a press conference held at the Oman Olympic Committee Headquarters in Al Ghubra.
Present at the event were Nabil Al Busaidi, Chairman of Oman Rugby , and Brian Hopkins, Head Coach of the Oman National Rugby Sevens Team .
“This tournament is a major step forward for rugby in Oman,” said Al Busaidi. “It reflects years of dedication to developing the sport, supporting local talent, and showcasing Oman on the Asian rugby stage.”
Brian Hopkins echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the sport’s accessibility and excitement: “Rugby Sevens is a fast-paced, dynamic sport that is accessible to players and fans alike.
