Erika Kirk, widow of assassinated conservative activist and Turning Point USA (TPUSA) co-founder Charlie Kirk, took to Instagram on Friday to share a poignant glimpse into her grieving process.
“There is no linear blueprint for grief,” Erika wrote in her Instagram post. “One day you’re collapsed on the floor, crying out the name Jesus in between labored breaths. The next, you’re playing with your children in the living room, surrounded by family photos, and feeling a rush of something you can only attempt to define as divinely planted and bittersweet joy as a smile breaks through on your face”, she added.
A video accompanying her post showed moments from the couple’s life with their children, along with voice-overs of Charlie Kirk advocating for marriage and family values. It also features his packed memorial service on September 21 at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
Erika wrote that she carried “Charlie in every breath, in every ache, and in every quiet act of day-to-day living as I attempt to relearn what that rhythm will be. And what I’ve realised through these past 30 days is that the greater the suffering, the purer the love, she said. “And I have never loved him more than I do now," she added.
Erika Kirk has also said earlier that she has forgiven Tyler Robinson, the man accused of killing her husband in Orem, Utah, a gesture that earned her widespread admiration.
Charlie who Erika met in 2018, is survived by his wife two young daughters. Since Charlie Kirk's death, Erika has taken over leadership of TPUSA, the nonprofit he founded to promote conservative causes.
