JAIPUR: A Sriganganagar court Thursday sentenced a truck driver to 20 years of RI for smuggling psychotropic medicinal pills , commonly abused by drug addicts in the region.
The court said this case set a precedent as it is likely the strictest and longest sentence handed down to a smuggler in the area under Section 22 of NDPS Act. The convict, Arjunram alias Pappu, a resident of Jodhpur district, was also fined Rs 1 lakh by Special NDPS court Judge Ajay Kumar Bhojak.
