JAMMU: A 25-year-old Territorial Army jawan was electrocuted late Monday on coming in contact with an overhead high-tension wire after climbing atop a passenger train in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district, officials said Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Ram Chandra Choudhary, a native of Rajasthan’s Jodhpur. He had been deployed with the Territorial Army battalion in Srinagar and was moving to his new posting in Sikandrabad. The accident occurred near Bari Brahmana station.
Officials said it wasn’t clear what prompted Choudhary to climb onto the train roof. The body was sent to Jammu GMCH for post-mortem. Authorities initiated the necessary medico-legal formalities, and further investigation into the death was underway.
