Kannur: Thalassery additional district and sessions court, on Monday sentenced M V Marshok, a member of now-defunct National Development Front (NDF) to life imprisonment for the murder of RSS leader T Ashwini Kumar. Judge Philip Thomas who pronounced the verdict also imposed a fine of Rs 50000 on the convict, who was the third accused in the case.
The court had acquitted 13 NDF activists in the case on Saturday, citing lack of evidence. The acquitted are; Nurul Ameen, P K Aziz, PM Siraj, M K Yunus, C P Mummer, A Ali, Noufal, Yakoob, Mustafa, Basheer, K Shammas, K Shanavas and Basheer.
Kumar was murdered in broad daylight near Iritty on March 10, 2005 while travelling in a private bus.
