NEW DELHI: A police complaint has been filed in Delhi against the Congress party over an AI-generated video featuring PM Modi’s late mother.
The complaint was submitted by BJP worker Sanket Gupta at North Avenue police station on Friday. According to a senior Delhi Police officer, the matter is under review and no FIR has been lodged so far.
Gupta alleged in his complaint that the video, which was circulated through the official X handle of the Bihar Congress unit, damaged the reputation of both the prime minister and his late mother.
He said it amounted to a violation of law, moral values and the dignity of women. Gupta demanded that an FIR be registered against the Congress and its office-bearers under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), and also asked platform X to take down the content.
The clip in question was posted on 10 September and showed “the PM is seen dreaming about his late mother who is criticising him over his politics in poll-bound Bihar.”
Congress, however, rejected accusations of disrespect.
“What is their objection? Just because a mother is trying to educate her son to do something right, where is the disrespect? This is neither disrespectful to the mother, whom we respect dearly, nor to the son,” said Pawan Khera, who heads the party’s media and publicity department.
