NEW DELHI: Over 25 flights of Indian carriers received threat messages on Friday, with the over 10-day-old crisis showing no signs of ebbing. Seven flights each of IndiGo , Vistara, and SpiceJet, and six of Air India received threats till Friday evening.
IndiGo’s Udaipur-Delhi (6E 2099), Delhi-Istanbul (6E 11), Jeddah-Mumbai (6E 58), Mumbai-Istanbul (6E 17), Hyderabad-Chandigarh (6E 108), Pune-Jodhpur (6E 133) and Kozhikode-Dammam (6E 87) received threats. “In line with our strict safety protocols, all necessary precautions are being taken, and we are working closely with the relevant authorities. The safety and security of our customers and crew remain our highest priority. We regret any inconvenience caused to our customers and appreciate their understanding during this time,” the airline said.
Aircraft getting threats are taken to isolation bays for thorough checks before being released for the next flight they have to operate, leading to consequential delays that entire day. So far over 300 flights have got threats in the last 11-12 days.
Union aviation minister Rammohan Naidu said: "We are deeply concerned In the wake of recent hoax bomb threats disrupting air travel. I assure you that safety and security are our highest priorities, and we are committed to taking strict action against those behind these malicious acts. Let’s work together to ensure safe skies for all."
