NCP-SP pits Swara's hubby Fahad against Sana Malik

MUMBAI: Actor Swara Bhasker 's husband, Fahad Ahmad , will be Sharad Pawar-led NCP 's nominee from Anushaktinagar for the assembly election. Ajit Pawar's NCP has fielded former minister Nawab Malik's daughter Sana Malik from the constituency. Ahmad's candidature has surprised even NCP (SP) functionaries, who were expecting a local functionary to get the ticket.

State NCP (SP) president Jayant Patil said Ahmad was associated with Samajwadi Party-he was president of Samajwadi Party Yuvjan Sabha-and joined NCP (SP) a few days ago. "We felt that he was a suitable candidate. We are sure he will win with a massive margin," Patil said.

Besides Ahmad, NCP (SP) nominated Gnayak Patni from Karanja, Atul Wandile from Hinghanghat, Ramesh Bang from Hingna, Rahul Kalate from Chinchwad, Ajit Gavhane from Bhosari, Mohan Bajirao Jagtap from Mazalgaon, Rajesaheb Deshmukh from Parli and Siddhi Kadam from Mohol. Patil said so far, NCP has declared 76 candidates-67 in first two lists and nine in the third.
