NEW DELHI: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat on Sunday said that India is a Hindu nation , and the need for Hindus to unite in order to ensure their security by eliminating all differences.

"For its security, Hindu society will have to unite by eliminating differences and disputes of language, caste, and province. Society should be such that there is a practice of organisation, goodwill and intimacy. Discipline of conduct, duty towards the state and the quality of being goal-orientated are necessary in society. Society is not made by me and my family only; rather, we have to achieve God in our lives by taking all-around concern for society," he said during the 'Swayamsevak Ekatrikaran' event in Baran, Rajasthan, on Saturday evening.

"India is a Hindu nation. We have been living here since ancient times, although the name Hindu came later. Hindu was used for all the sects of India living here. Hindus consider everyone as their own and accept everyone. Hindu says that we are right and you are also right in your place," he added.

Bhagwat stressed that Hindu society must overcome differences related to language, caste, and regional disputes to strengthen its unity. "Discipline in conduct, duty towards the state, and dedication to goals are essential qualities. A society is not just formed by individuals and their families, but by considering the comprehensive concerns through which one can attain spiritual fulfilment," the RSS chief said said.

He further explained that the functioning of the RSS is based on ideas rather than being mechanical. "It is an unparalleled organisation whose values trickle down from group leaders to volunteers, their families, and to society at large," he added.

Urging volunteers to maintain widespread contact within communities, Bhagwat highlighted the importance of addressing community deficiencies by empowering society. "The focus should be on social harmony, justice, health, education, and self-reliance. Volunteers should remain active in fostering harmony, environmental awareness, indigenous values, and civic consciousness within families, which are the basic components of a society," he stated.

Bhagwat noted that India's global reputation and standing are linked to the strength of its society, asserting that the safety of its expatriates is assured only when their nation is strong.

The event was attended by a total of 3,827 RSS volunteers and was attended by senior RSS leaders, including Ramesh Agarwal, Jagdish Singh Rana, Ramesh Chand Mehta, and Vaidya Radheshyam Garg.
