Dwyane Wade reveals why Jimmy Butler is important in the Golden State Warriors’ roster in the playoffs

Jimmy Butler went down hard late in the first quarter on Wednesday after being undercut on a rebound by Amen Thompson. He landed awkwardly on his tailbone and looked clearly shaken up. Though he managed to hit one of two free throws, he walked off gingerly and went straight to the locker room, not returning to the game. The team said Butler is set to undergo an MRI on Thursday to assess the injury further.

NBA legend Dwyane Wade recently commented on Butler, revealing that Butler-less Golden State Warriors will be in trouble as he can win the team the championship they are hoping for.

“Being able to watch like, you know, when they when they say like playoff Jimmy is real. A lot of times you think, ‘Oh, people just gave you a nickname.’ No, that no, this it's real. And I'm an eye test person. I look at the eyes and like the Jimmy that I see sometime in the regular season, the Jimmy that's getting through it. The Jimmy I'm watching right now is a Jimmy that can help you win a championship,” Wade said on a latest episode of The Timeout.

Wade further shared that Butler’s impact on the game goes beyond scoring, “His impact on the game, just on the game, bro. You're talking about a guy who don't say nothing to the refs, you don't hear, you don't hear Jimmy mouth really, you know, unless you get a a microphone and he didn't cut scene and said something to somebody.”

Dwyane further compared his impact to that of Draymond Green. He hailed Butler’s consistency and basketball IQ, noting how he's always in the right place at the right time on both ends of the floor. Wade described him as someone who disrupts opposing offenses by forcing bad passes and knowing exactly when to make a move, all while staying composed and patient on offense.

Wade also pointed out how Butler empowers his teammates without sacrificing his own production. “You’re getting that kind of impact from your third guy?” he said, reflecting on Butler’s ability to contribute at a high level without needing to dominate the ball.

“He doesn't need the ball all the time to make an impact. He's going to do it on both ends of the floor and he's going to do it in celebration of his teammates. This is one of the best versions of Jimmy Butler we've seen in the last few years.”
