Napheesa Collier injury update: Minnesota Lynx's star faces setback after ankle injury

Napheesa Collier has sustained an injury to three ligaments in her left ankle and shin. The Minnesota Lynx star's injury has been classified as a Grade 2 tear of three of her li game nts. The player also sustained a muscle tear in her shin. This unfortunate injury took place in Game 3 of the Phoenix Mercury vs Minnesota Lynx match on 27 September 2025.

Alyssa Thomas, a player from the Phoenix Mercury, made contact with the Minnesota Lynx player after promptly stealing the ball from Napheesa Collier. This clash on the court made Napheesa Collier’s ankle bend at an awkward angle.


Despite her recent injury, Napheesa Collier may be able to play for the next WNBA season. This is due to the injury only needing a minimum of six weeks. However, this injury sets the player back for the required six weeks. There is a slight chance that the WNBA player will be missing out on the Unrivaled League in January 2026.

Naphesa Collier’s team, the Minnesota Lynx, lost against the Phoenix Mercury in an 84-76 match. The Phoenix Mercury will now be heading to play against the Las Vegas Aces in the WNBA Finals.

Collier also claimed that Cathy Engelbert completely dismissed concerns regarding player pay. The WNBA Commissioner allegedly mocked Caitlin Clark and other injured players, saying that they “should be on their knees, thanking their lucky stars for the media rights deal.”

Lexie Hull and Stephanie White praised the Minnesota Lynx player’s honesty and said Collier’s comments came at an important time in the league. Other WNBA star players like Angel Reese, Isabelle Harrison, and Dearica Hamby have also shown their support for Napheesa Collier online.
