Kolkata metro railway observed Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) on October 30 to commemorate the 149th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Asim Kumar Majumdar, principal chief electrical engineer, Metro Railway administered the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas pledge to officers and staff of metro railway at Metro Rail Bhavan as they vowed to preserve the unity, integrity and security of the nation. Majumdar encouraged all officers and employees to dedicate themselves to the ideals of unity and integrity, embodying the vision and actions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. As part of this programme, a ‘Run for Unity’ from Metro Rail Bhavan to Maidan and back was also organised. The rally witnessed enthusiastic participation from a diverse group, including railway employees, Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel, sports personalities and senior railway officials.
