Taking a trip down memory lane, Meenakshi Sheshadri discussed her experience working on the 1987 movie ‘Dacait’. Meenakshi said that she was excited to collaborate with Rahul Rawait because he has previously produced a number of successful movies. The actor did, however, reveal that the director made her cry and even refused to give her payment for the movie.
During the interview with Friday Talkies, Meenakshi said in Hindi that Rahul Rawail approached her for a meeting. She considered the opportunity to collaborate with a director renowned for films such as Betaab, Arjun, and Love Story. During their conversation, Rawail made it clear that Sunny would play the lead role in ‘Dacait’ and that his family would hold significant importance in the narrative. However, he assured her that the 5-6 scenes and 2-3 songs featuring them would be of high quality and possess strong content, emphasizing his commitment to presenting his heroines in an aesthetically pleasing manner. She responded by stating that he did not need to convince her anymore.
She further added: “He did make me cry though during the signing. He clearly refused to give me my price. He said, ‘I won’t give you the price. You are working with me… that itself is your price. Whatever I will give, take it happily.’ But I was such a fan of his that I smiled while crying and agreed to do it. I was young and wanted to earn well."
‘Dacait’, starring Sunny Deol, Meenakshi, Raakhee, Raza Murad, Suresh Oberoi, Paresh Rawal, and Urmila Matondkar, was directed by Rahul Rawail and released in 1987. It focused on a person, who after being persecuted by the local Zamindars (landlords), turns into a dacoit.
