RAIPUR: Train services in Chhattisgarh will be disrupted, with approximately 50 trains cancelled and several others diverted or rescheduled between April 23 and May 6, 2025.
The South East Central Railway (SECR) has announced these changes due to ongoing infrastructure development work. Passengers traveling to Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, and South India are likely to be affected.
An SECR spokesperson stated that the work is part of a larger initiative to improve infrastructure.
A key project is the construction of the third railway line between Rajnandgaon and Kalamna, a 228-kilometer stretch being built at a cost of Rs 3,540 crore. This line is crucial for connecting the region to South-East India.
"The development work aims to enhance operational efficiency, facilitate the introduction of new trains, improve passenger amenities, and ensure better punctuality," the spokesperson said. "While this work is in progress, some train services will be affected. However, once completed, it will significantly improve train operations."
The work includes connecting the third line and electrification work at Gondia railway station, within the Rajnandgaon-Kalamna section, under the SECR's Nagpur Division. The railway administration is committed to completing all projects as quickly as possible.
In addition to the cancellations, the routes of six trains will be diverted, and the originating/terminating stations of 28 trains will be changed.
Passengers are advised to check the revised schedules and plan their journeys accordingly. The railway administration regrets the inconvenience caused.
