Erode: As part of the 'Ungalai Thedi Ungal Ooril' initiative, district collector Rajagopal Sunkara visited tribal villages, including Vilankombai and Kambanur, in Gobichettipalayam taluk on Wednesday.
During the visit, the collector instructed officials to facilitate patta transfers, collect house and property taxes, and improve essential services such as drinking water, streetlights, and roads in these villages.
He also visited a dragon fruit farm at Kugalur belonging to L Malarvizhi. She has planted 4,000 dragon fruit trees on one acre, using drip irrigation system funded by the district administration at a cost of Rs 59,110 through the National Agriculture Development scheme.
The collector noted that the farmer's yield increased from 3.5 tonnes to over 10 tonnes after switching over to the drip irrigation system. He also visited the primary health centre at Kugalur and spoke with patients there.
