Rachel Yaffe, a TikTok star with over 55,000 followers, has died following a seven-year battle with a rare liver cancer. Yaffe, 27, departed this life on October 11; she was survived by her brother, sister, and parents. At the age of 20, Yaffe received a diagnosis of fibrolamellar carcinoma. She shared her experience on social media, highlighting both her successes and setbacks. Yaffe disclosed specifics on her diagnosis in a 2023 TikTok video. Her symptoms were first written off as anxiousness. Subsequent examination, however, revealed a 20-centimeter tumor on her liver, which was obstructing her calves' blood supply and producing shoulder discomfort. After a biopsy, the tumor was found to be an extremely rare form of liver cancer in adolescents. Her chemotherapy was restarted in January 2024. Later, she had surgery to repair a tumor in her left lung that was pressing on her heart and causing hemorrhage.
