After not getting a chance to bat in the first T20I, Rinku Singh made the most of his promotion to number five in the second T20I between India and Bangladesh on Wednesday (October 9) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi with the third half-century of his career.After Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bowl first, India's top three failed to leave a mark as openers Sanju Samson (10) and Abhishek Sharma (15), as well as skipper Suryakumar Yadav (8), departed in the powerplay. While the visitors sensed a chance, Rinku, alongside Nitish Kumar Reddy, put up a memorable partnership for the fifth wicket. Playing only the second T20I of his career, Nitish played a stunning knock of 74 in 34 balls with a strike-rate of 217.66 with four boundaries and seven sixes. On the other hand, Rinku bettered his already exceptional T20I record with a knock of 53 in 29 balls (182.75 strike rate). The 26-year-old hit five boundaries and three sixes in his knock.

After making his debut last year against Ireland, Rinku has taken international cricket by storm. So far, he has 471 runs in 25 matches (18 innings) at an average of 58.87 and strike-rate of 175.09. No Indian player with more than 400 runs has a better average of strike-rate. Talking about the match, India posted a total of 221 on the board. Apart from Rinku and Nitish, Hardik Pandya continued his red-hot form with a quick-fire cameo of 32 in 19 balls while Riyan Parag made 15 runs in six balls. India won the first T20I by seven wickets and are looking to complete a series.
