Former Pakistan batter Basit Ali has made an insane prediction on India's star wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant after his heroics in the 3rd Test against New Zealand went in vain at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai recently. The hosts fell to a 3-0 shock defeat in the series but Ali was swayed by Pant's temperament and feels that he should be worth 50 crores in the upcoming IPL Auction. ''Rishabh Pant scored 60 in the first innings and 64 in the second. What can I say about this kid! People might say he’s worth 25 crore, but in my opinion, he should go for 50 crore'', he said on his YouTube channel. The Mumbai pitch was a spin-heavy surface but Pant made it look like a flat pitch as per Basit. The 53-year old is very impressed by his smart choice of shot selections, something which the other India batters didn't follow. "When he was batting on this surface, it looked as if it was a flat pitch—he was hitting wherever he wanted. But he was very smart with his shot selection, knowing not to play shots in areas where he’s weak. Others didn’t manage to do this," Ali explained. On Diwali day, 31st October, all the IPL teams announced their retentions for IPL 2025 before they all go full swing for the Mega Auctions towards the end of this Month in Saudi Arabia as per reports. Delhi Capitals, on the other hand have left out Pant out from their list of retentions.According to a PTI report, Rishabh Pant decided to leave the Capitals after he felt his position could be in trouble due to the owners. The report further added that the India star was also unhappy with Delhi Capitals' new coaching staff, which will be led by ex India cricketer, Hemang Badani. There's no doubt, Pant will fetch a huge demand from the franchises in the auction, but it is to be seen, whether he can actually go onto breach the 50-crore mark!
