UFC legend Khabib Nurmagomedov refuses to shake Kate Scott's hand on live TV

UFC legend Khabib Nurmagomedov refused to shake Kate Scott's hand in the aftermath of the final on account of his faith. The 36-year-old, who is a devout Sunni Muslim, was at the Allianz Arena in Munich on Saturday evening to witness in the showpiece match.

Nurmagomedov enjoyed a sparkling career in UFC as he recorded a host of famous victories across a 12-year period. He overcame in one of his last ever fights in 2018, before calling time on his career following a comprehensive victory over Justin Gaethje in 2020 as he defeated his opponent in the second round. And he ended with a record of 29 wins from 29 fights.

Nurmagomedov joined popular streamer IShowSpeed on after the full-time whistle in Munich to offer his thoughts on the encounter.

The former fighter shook hands with Scott's male colleagues, with Thierry Henry, Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards on punditry duties for the broadcaster.

But in Islam it is forbidden for a believer to physically touch someone of the opposite sex if the two aren't related.

And when presenter Scott reached out to shake Nurmagomedov's hand, he instead nodded his head upwards and put his hand to his chest as the host apologised.

The incident led to mixed reactions from football fans on social media, with some praising Scott for her reaction.

Five years ago, a female UFC team-mate of Nurmagomedov - Cynthia Calvillo - revealed that she had been unable to train with the blockbuster star as she told theScore: "It's a little bit weird because of their religion... they won't train with women.

"[Khabib] is still showing technique and stuff like that. So I still get to watch it. But it doesn't bother me... because they're not really being directly rude to me."

PSG enjoyed a scintillating run to the Champions League final as they overcame Liverpool, Aston Villa and Arsenal in the knockout stages.

The French giants dominated the showpiece match as Achraf Hakimi and Desire Doue found the back of the net before the halfway point of the first half.

Doue added his second goal of the evening just after the hour mark, before Khvicha Kvaratskhelia put his team 4-0 ahead with 17 minutes remaining.

And Senny Mayulu wrapped up the win four minutes before the end as PSG lifted the Champions League trophy for the first time in their history.
