It is not often that a UK destination is hailed for its weather and likeness to warm European locations. However, the Isle of Wight has topped sunshine charts and been dubbed the UK's sunniest place, often being referred to as the "English Mediterranean" island.
The English island sees more than 2.4 million tourists every year. The Isle of Wight is connected by more than 75 ferry crossings daily from Southampton, Portsmouth and Lymington. It is set in the heart of a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, and offers stunning views.

Last year, the Isle of Wight was named the sunniest place in the UK, welcoming more sun than Italy during winter months. However, it is during summer that the island truly comes alive. The paradise haven offers gorgeous waters, rocky shores and magnificent clifftops. But that is not all. It is also home to an award-winning summer arts festival, Ventnor Fringe, which has a packed programme spanning circus, comedy, theatre and music. The festival itself also offers a great base from which to explore a stunning coastline.
Spanning 10 days and over 150 performances, Ventnor Fringe offers a miniature Edinburgh experience at the opposite end of the UK, attracting a mix of artists looking to preview work before they head to Scotland or those seeking a more intimate alternative in a unique coastal setting. Ventnor's Botanic Garden will be the setting of Circus Trail, a new promenade performance featuring a fully international cast with exhilarating acrobatics taking place throughout the tropical gardens after hours.
Alongside this, the islands biggest selling point is there stunning abundance of beaches. Ryde, Sandown, and Shanklin, are the most popular beach locations, known for their golden sands and traditional seaside charm.
The island has also recently thrown their annual music festival simply known as the Isle of Wight Festival, with this years' headliners including Justin Timberlake, Stereophonics and Sting.
