The popular UK town home to golden sand beach and 'breathtaking' sunsets

A stunning British beach where sunsets are breathtaking is in one of the most scenic parts of the UK. If you are looking for somewhere to watch the sunset this summer, then this is apparently the best place in the UK to do that.

UK holiday provider has looked at the area of the country with the longest coastline, , and have revealed the best beaches there to watch the sunset. Cornwall has an impressive 422 miles of coastline, the most of any UK county, and therefore has some gorgeous . The best beach for watching the sunset has been revealed as Fistral Beach in . The sun sets here at 7.52pm in April, on average, which gets later as the months go on, with May's average being as late as 8.40pm.

Fistral Beach is located on the northern side of the Cornwall Peninsula. The beach is known for its golden sands along with its clear waters, ideal for a summer's day out and seemingly even better for a sunset.

"Along with having sunsets after 6pm this March, Cornwall is the westernmost region of mainland Britain, so witnesses some of the most breathtaking sunsets in the UK," the travel experts at Parkdean Resorts said.

"Cornwall has beautiful west-facing beaches and coves, allowing visitors unrestricted views of the open horizon across . The Atlantic air usually holds moisture, which allows for Rayleigh scattering - the scattering of sunlight for creating vibrant colours such as reds, oranges and purples."

They added: "Also, with minimal air and light pollution, Cornwall provides clear conditions for vivid and deep colours to transform the sky at sunset. As one of the largest stretches of coastline in the UK, the Cornish coast's vast ocean aids in amplifying the sunset, by the crystal clear waters acting as a reflection of the sunset skies."

While Fistral Beach came out on top, a number of other beaches in Cornwall were named as some of the best to watch the sunset. In second place was Holywell Bay which is also located in Newquay.

The others on the list are Porthmeor Beach in St Ives, Watergate Bay in Newquay and Kynance Cove in Lizard Peninsula.
