The bosses have announced their new trio of hosts, who will take over the hit show when it returns to . However, fans of the motor central series seem unimpressed at the new faces taking over from , and .
, and his co-host James Engelsman. The transition is set to adapt to a younger demographic whilst maintaining its focus on automotive content.
But in a crushing blow for the series, a spokesperson for told us: "Viewers are seeing this as a massive downgrade on the trio of Clarkson, Hammond and May which has led our traders into saying there is a 64 per cent chance that the show will not be renewed for a second season."
They added, "Based on the public's reaction, we're not expecting many people to tune in to the new version of The Grand Tour."
The company's experts have said there is a 60 per cent probability that the viewing figures are below 1.5 million, which would be a decrease of 850,000 from the last series.
Their spokesman, Steven McQuillan, added: "It's going to be tough for the series to gain any traction without the trio of Clarkson, Hammond and May. This is a cast that carried the whole of the Top Gear franchise and was the whole reason the Grand Tour started."
He concluded: "It's pretty likely this show won't get as much attention as the previous iteration. Even if it is a great watch, it's unlikely it will see success with this cast."
Despite his remarks, another source has praised the new hosts in recent days, adding: "Thomas and James are as knowledgeable about motors as Jeremy, Richard and James - the only difference is they're younger, cooler and a lot more social media savvy. Francis became famous for his love of trainspotting and will be bringing his humour to the show."
According to reports, Jeremy, Richard, and James bid farewell to The Grand Tour because they felt they had "exhausted the idea thoroughly" since it first hit screens almost 10 years ago.
