Carpet stains are among the most frustrating household messes to deal with, especially if they are ink, makeup, or food stains. But one unusual item in your bathroom can make a big difference when removing carpet stains.
Expert cleaners recommend people ditch harsh or pricey cleaners for a gentle, effective, and surprisingly easy method. Cleaning professionals at Cleaner Cleaner revealed that even the most "terrible stains" will be removed if you use toothpaste. They said: "The main and most important rule is to not waste time and react quickly, in other words, start the stain removal procedure almost immediately."
Carpet stains are bound to happen, but toothpaste can help with small spills. Cleaning experts at Dental Sky revealed their efficient method for using toothpaste.
Simply apply toothpaste directly to the stain, scrub gently with a toothbrush, and rinse. Repeat if needed. However, the experts also warn that if you are tackling vomit or red wine, it's best to use a professional carpet cleaner.
Cleaner Cleaner experts also shared their method for using toothpaste to clean carpets. They said, "Not only can you clean spots of ink with toothpaste, but also lipstick stains.
"Dab the area with plenty of toothpaste, rub it gently into the fabric. Wait for it to dry to allow the paste to absorb the ink. Finally, just rinse with lukewarm water and the carpet will be like new."
Other uses for toothpasteBathroom mirror fogging is inevitable, especially after a steamy shower. However, by using a little toothpaste on your steamed-up mirror and then wiping it clean, it'll help keep it fog-free next time, according to Dental Sky.
Another toothpaste hack is to remove any stains on your iron. Clean the cool, unplugged plate with toothpaste, wipe with a damp cloth, and dry to prevent future stains.
Do you have scuffed shoes? Use a toothbrush and a dab of toothpaste to scrub away marks. Wipe clean and let dry. For white shoes, whitening toothpaste adds extra brightness.

If you spill any large liquids onto your carpet, the best course of action is to use a cornstarch mixture. Cleaner Cleaner experts say: "Pour cornflour and add little milk in a bowl. Stir until you get a soft paste.
"Then spread the paste on the ink area and leave it to dry. When it makes a crust vacuum up the paste of starch and milk."
Another efficient mixture includes two parts vinegar and three parts cornstarch. Mix the products until you have a mash-like mixture, then smear the stain, let it dry, and rinse thoroughly.
To remove gum or melted wax from carpet, first scrape off as much as possible. According to Better Homes and Gardens, place a plastic bag of ice over the area to harden the residue, then chip it away with a spoon or scraper and vacuum.
If any oily stain remains, blot with a white cloth and rubbing alcohol until it's gone.
