is said to be determined to find a "permanent home in the UK" as he is "missing" his old friends and former life, it has been claimed.

The 40-year-old stepped back from royal duties in early 2020, and soon moved to live in the United States with Meghan Markle and their son, Archie.

Speaking to the , royal author and expert Tom Quinn said: "As time goes by, Harry misses some aspects of his old life in the UK. Inevitably, the honeymoon period where everything in the States is new and exciting is coming to an end and Harry is looking back at the past through rose-tinted spectacles."

He added: "He misses his Old Etonian and army friends, many of whom have not visited as they don't get on with Meghan.

"Harry is determined to find his own permanent home in the UK, which is partly why he's continuing his legal action to get the British taxpayer to pay for his security."

This comes after Harry previously shared his sadness at being evicted from their UK-based home, Frogmore Cottage last year.

Harry and Meghan were gifted Frogmore Cottage - which is based in Windsor - by the late Queen Elizabeth II in 2019. The couple paid for an extensive renovation independently after initially using taxpayers' money and then repaying it.

Speaking of the five-bedroom home, Harry wrote in his memoir, Spare: "Once upon a time, this was going to be my forever home. Instead it had proved to be just another brief stop."

Harry has made several visits to the UK this year, with his latest taking place just last week. The royal flew to the UK to attend the WellChild awards in London on September 30 - and is said to be keen on spending more time in the UK.

Despite Harry's wishes to travel to the UK more often, Meghan is said to be against the idea - and has not visited the UK since 2022.

According, expert Phil Dampier said: "He clearly wants to find some causes he can get involved in and give his life some purpose. Meghan doesn't want to come back to this country, so he will have to fly solo."
