The dark and gritty BBC drama Taboo, starring Hollywood heavyweight Tom Hardy, first aired on the broadcaster in January 2017, and it was met with rave reviews from viewers and critics alike. Many have been waiting for a second series to run ever since.
Taboo follows the story of the mysterious James Delaney, who returns home to London from Africa in 1814 to inherit his father's shipping empire. However, he soon makes multiple enemies, and his relationship with his half-sister becomes extremely unorthodox.
The series was hailed by fans, with many branding it "perfect viewing" on Google reviews. One person wrote: "This is quite honestly one of the best series I have ever seen! It really feels like one long movie from beginning to end! If it were a movie, it would be nominated for best actor - Tom Hardy, several nominations for supporting roles, best movie, best original score, screenplay, casting, costume design, and probably every category you can conceive of!"

A second penned: "Absolute class. I watched this when it was on TV when it first released, and have just gone back to it. Every single moment is pure brilliance. So many twists and turns, and extremely cleverly thought out, this show will keep you on the edge of your seat for the entire eight hours of viewing. A must-watch. If you like period dramas and dark fantasy/gothic style story's then this is the one for you. Still hoping for a season two!"
A third said: "How have they not made another series to this yet? Why have we waited so long? I absolutely loved this and what a great cast."
Another added: "Seriously, one of the best television shows I've ever watched. I was glued to the screen. I love Tom Hardy so much,h and I couldn't take my eyes off of him the whole entire time. But not just Tom Hardy, the plot and storyline kept me captivated. It's been seven years, and I'll keep waiting for the second season to come along. What a show!"
Earlier this year, Tom Hardy told LADBible that fans can "absolutely" expect a sequel to Taboo. Writer Steven Knight had revealed "six of the eight" episodes had already been written in an interview with GQ Magazine.
"We are trying to get stars aligned so that we can get our star back on set. He's busier than I," he quipped.
Taboo is now available to watch on Netflix.
