Netflix viewers are rejoicing with cries of "about time" and "finally" as the streaming behemoth has greenlit production for season 2 of one of its most successful Korean dramas. In the wake of Squid Game's record-breaking success, thriller enthusiasts are encouraged to dive into another gripping Korean series.
The science fiction sensation, which debuted in 2022 and swiftly climbed Netflix's charts to become one of the Top 10 most-watched non-English series ever, is set to return for a second instalment. Entitled All of Us Are Dead, the series is described as a "catastrophic coming-of-age story in which teens at Hyosan High band together to survive a zombie outbreak".
Netflix's official description states: "A high school becomes ground zero for a zombie virus outbreak. Trapped students must fight their way out - or turn into one of the rabid infected."
Following a stellar first season that garnered an 89% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, All of Us Are Dead is poised for a glorious return, reports The Mirror.
Earlier today, Netflix announced the thrilling news of production commencement, posting on X: "All of Us Are Dead Season 2 is NOW IN PRODUCTION.
"Starring Park Ji-hu, Yoon Chan-young, Cho Yi-hyun, Lomon, Lee Min-jae, Kim Si-eun, Roh Jae-won, and Yoon Ga-i."
Fans have taken to social media to share their elation over the announcement, having endured what seemed like an interminable wait.
Comments such as "FINALLY", "CAN'T WAIT" and "ABOUT TIME" dominated the conversation.

"WHATTTT ARE YOU KIDDING ME," exclaimed one ecstatic fan, while another eagerly added: "Here we go... It's about time!"
"All of Us are Dead WAITINGGG," joked a viewer, as another praised: "Love it. Season 1 was so refreshing. Great story and love the hype that some of these super zombies might bring."
Another comment read: "Zombie apocalypse incoming! Can't wait to see what happens next. Park Ji-hu and team bringing serious drama this season."
The gripping series All of Us Are Dead, adapted from Joo Dong-geun's 2009 webtoon, has amassed over 474.26 million viewing hours on Netflix in its initial month.
Critics have lauded the show, with Caroline Framke of Variety noting: "Like Squid Game before it, All of Us Are Dead makes the most out of its nightmarish central location to otherworldly, dizzying effect."
Brad Newsome from the Sydney Morning Herald remarked: "This stunning Korean series shows that it's still possible to make compelling, imaginative, thought-provoking and hugely entertaining zombie splatter more than a decade after The Walking Dead spawned an unending genre glut."
Nick Schager of The Daily Beast commented: "This 12-part South Korean Netflix series about zombies invading a high school is gruesome, thrilling, and highly addictive."
Yet, not all reviews were glowing, as IndieWire's Steve Greene penned a less favourable critique, writing: "It's delivered in an oddly-paced season that fights against an intuitive structure as much as these students try to beat back chomps from throngs of kids in uniforms."
All of Us Are Dead season 1 is available to stream now, exclusively on Netflix.
