It's fair to say that Brits love a good period drama. With such a long and fascinating history, the UK has no shortage of stories to tell. And there are few better ways to explore that history than through a well-made series.
One drama in particular looks at the Royal Family through the decades. While some parts of it have been criticised for not being fully accurate, many viewers say it's still a decent look into the lives of royalty. It's been called "captivating" and "addictive", with some even naming it one of the "best TV series ever made".
One person said: "This is possibly one of the best series ever produced. It's the most captivating and addictive TV ever. If I had to use one word to describe it, that would be a masterpiece."
Another added: "Where do I even begin with this phenomenal series? Everything about it is remarkable.
"The sets in this show are just gorgeous, but more than that, they are invaluable in helping audiences immerse themselves in the era and story."
A third commented: "The show is a captivating journey through the corridors of power and the private lives of the British royal family."
And another viewer wrote: "It is truly addictive goodness. I'll admit I couldn't care less about the British monarchy prior to that but after watching the series I was delighted by the scandalous nature of the storylines that were based on real events."
The show in question is, of course, The Crown. It follows the reign of Queen Elizabeth II from the 1940s to the early 2000s.
The series was created by Peter Morgan, who also wrote the film The Queen and the stage play The Audience.
Each season covers key events in British history. The show starts with the Queen's marriage to Prince Philip and ends with the wedding of then Prince now King Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles.
Different actors play the Queen as the story moves through time. Claire Foy starred in the first two seasons, Olivia Colman in the next two, and Imelda Staunton in the final two.
The Crown has won dozens of awards, including 21 Emmys and two Golden Globes for Best Drama Series.
However, some scenes have been criticised for not sticking closely to the facts, especially in later seasons.
Nonetheless, the series currently holds an average 92% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes and fans continue to watch it in huge numbers.
All six seasons are available to stream on Netflix.
