Cristiano Ronaldo Jr called out Lamine Yamal after being asked to compare the Barcelona teenager to his own dad, claiming that Yamal "hasn't won anything". Ronaldo Sr, who currently plays for Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr, is widely seen as one of the world's greatest ever footballers.
The 40-year-old has shattered countless records over the course of his long career, playing for the likes of United, Real Madrid and Juventus - and he is now hoping to become the first player ever to score 1000 officially-registered professional goals. Meanwhile, Yamal is considered the most exciting player in the game at this moment in time, having lit up European football over the past few seasons for Barcelona and Spain. The winger, who turned 18 in controversial fashion last week, is a serious contender for this year's Ballon d'Or. That has, understandably, led some of the younger generation to view him as superior to Ronaldo, who is now considered past his prime.
That view was clear to see in a recent Twitch stream with American creator 2xRaKai, who was travelling in a car with 15-year-old Ronaldo Jr. During the stream, the teenager was asked to name his favourite footballer of all time, to which he instantly replied: "My dad."
The streamer then took a dig at Ronaldo Jr by suggesting that Yamal was better than his father. The son of the Portuguese football icon conceded that, based on current form, Yamal has the edge.
But he emphasised that the teenage phenom is yet to achieve what Ronaldo has in his illustrious career. He responded: "Right now? Yes, but Lamine hasn't won anything yet. He's very good, but he still hasn't won anything."

Despite Ronaldo Jr's claims, Yamal had an outstanding 2024/25 season, securing a domestic treble with La Liga, the Spanish Super Cup and Copa del Rey victories. He also triumphed in Euro 2024 with Spain last summer.
Yamal racked up 18 goals and provided 25 assists in 55 matches across all competitions last term, while Ronaldo had only netted five times in 19 appearances for Sporting CP at the same age.
But while he has no shortage of talent, he would have to continue his current trajectory over the next decade and beyond to match Ronaldo's legacy and long list of accolades, which include five Champions League trophies and being the all-time leading goal-scorer in international football.
Ronaldo also came out on top when he faced Yamal for the first time in the 2025 Nations League final between Spain and Portugal last month, scoring in a 2-2 draw, which Portugal eventually won on penalties.
With Yamal closer in age to Ronaldo Jr than to the legendary Ronaldo himself, there's a possibility that the two youngsters may one day share the same pitch.
Ronaldo Jr is an aspiring professional footballer in his own right, currently playing in Al-Nassr's youth academy. He previously trained with Juventus, Manchester United and Real Madrid during his father's time with each club.
Born in the United States, the youngster had the option to represent the USMNT and Spain but chose to follow in his father's footsteps by playing for Portugal at youth level. He made his debut for Portugal's Under-15s against Japan in May and netted his first two goals against Croatia just a few days later.
