It's been over seven years since starred as Captain Jack Sparrow in his fifth movie.
The Hollywood star was planning on a sixth outing as a fond farewell to his much-loved character.
However, Disney dropped the actor after his ex-wife's 2018 domestic abuse allegations, which he strongly denies.
Yet in 2022 he won his US libel case against Amber Heard and has slowly but surely been making his return to moviemaking; starting with a couple of European films in Jeanne du Barry and Modi.
Pirates of the Caribbean producer Jerry Bruckheimer is very open to Depp returning as Captain Jack Sparrow, even if the Hollywood star said during his libel case that he wouldn't work with Disney again for hundreds of millions of dollars. Nevertheless, time can heal and the 61-year-old knows how much his fans love his career-defining, Oscar-nominated role. Yet it doesn't look like it will happen any time soon, considering the latest Pirates of the Caribbean 6 news that has Depp's fans furious.
reports that a source has sent them a new production grid titled "UNTITLED POTC MOVIE," with a "late 2025" production start in St Vincent and the Grenadines being eyed. Previous Pirates movies have been shot on the Caribbean island, and presumably, this is either the reboot with a new cast or Margot Robbie's female-led spin-off.
Whatever the case, the outlet shared: " No word yet on the cast for the film, but I wouldn't expect Johnny Depp to return as Captain Jack Sparrow."
Fans reacted furiously on social media with the same mantra: "There's no PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN without Johnny Depp" and "Without Depp, it's not Pirates of the Caribbean." Others added, "Should probably just cancel it now and save your money then" and "So it's going to bomb. Got it."
There is always the hope that Depp's Sparrow will still return but maybe just not in the next one.
