John Lewis has issued an urgent recall over a baby product used for children aged under three because of a potential 'choking risk'.
The retailer is recalling the Maxi-Cosi Jay Plus Booster Seat and telling customers to 'stop using' the toy tray on it 'immediately'.
The department store says it is okay to continue to use the product, but not the attached feeding tray because one of the three attached toys has been found to be potentially unsafe.
John Lewis said in an urgent message to customers: "Maxi Cosi are recalling the above product due to a potential issue with one of the toys; a tree with a wire and three acorns. In rare cases, the wire may break, releasing the acorns. This means there is a potential risk of choking."
It says anyone who has bought the product between July 1 and October 23 this year must: "Stop using the toy tray immediately. The Maxi-Cosi Jay Plus booster seat and its standard feeding tray (without the removable toy tray) remain completely safe for daily use.
"Contact Maxi Cosi for more information about returning the item for a refund or replacement."
The affected items use product codes 31340401 and 31340402.
You can contact the firm via email: uk-consumercare@maxi-cosi.com or call 0808 1890 522.
Maxi Cosi says about the seat, which costs £69.95 at most stores: "Adapts to keep your little one comfortable through their early years. Its tray position and height are both adjustable to ensure they have all the space needed as they eat, play, and grow. The soft padded seat provides maximum comfort and all the support your child needs.
Getting your little one into their seat is easier than ever thanks to the removable tray. Its compact design makes Jay Plus easy to take with you and store away.
"Keep your little one eating, playing, and sitting in comfort from 6 months all the way up to 3 years old. To begin with, they can use the inlay before removing it for extra space once they outgrow it. The height of the feeding booster, as well as the tray position, is adjustable to ensure the perfect fit as they grow."
