fans were less than impressed after watching the latest episode of Until I Kill You. During Tuesday's episode, fans followed the aftermath of Delia Balmer being attacked and abused by serial killer John Sweeney.
After surviving with life-changing injuries, Delia left hospital and moved on with her life. However, Sweeney was still on the run and police hadn't managed to hunt him down for several years.
It wasn't until two years after her attack until Sweeney was arrested in 2001. Fans couldn't quite believe how long the serial killer hadn't been caught and took to social media to say that it was an "absolute joke."
One person said on X: "Delia's right, she was let down badly, he probably would be let off again...."
A second person commented: "About F***in time!! Absolute joke. ." A third typed: "The system is f*d and those working in it are incompetent ."
The series first aired on Sunday and viewers have been glued to the crime drama as Delia's harrowing story unfolds. The drama delves deeper into the relationship of survivor Delia and John Sweeney, who she met in in 1991 in a pub.
On the surface, it appeared Delia had won husband material with Liverpool-born Sweeney, who seemed to be an attentive partner, buying her flowers and showing plenty of attention.
Shortly afterwards, things turn for the worse and Delia asked Sweeney to leave. His manipulation of her quickly intensified, leading to a terrifying period in the spring of 1994 when he held her as a hostage.
While holding Delia captive, Sweeney admitted to the murder of his former girlfriend, Melissa Halstead, whose dismembered body was discovered in a canal in 1990.
Sweeney later went on to kill Paula Fields in 2000. He was found guilty of the murder of Melissa and Paula and was eventually sentenced to life in prison in 2011.
