ITV's Good Morning Britain halted as presenters make same complaint live on air

The start of May is currently seeing some of the hottest temperatures on record, but that did not stop the presenters from interrupting the to let viewers know how cold they were on Thursday. The topic of weather came up, as Ed Balls and Susanna Reid asked viewers if the sun could impact their work.

They wanted to know if fans at home were hoping that they could work from home or stay off completely if it was too hot for them. That was when they interrupted the show to cut to , who appeared to be shivering despite temperatures of up to 30 degrees outside. Susanna explained: "It is so cold in the studio this morning that Charlotte asked for a hot water bottle."

A very cold Charlotte, who was hugging a warm cup of tea, admitted: "I did! It's like a fridge in here." Susanna added: "Someone has overcompensated for the air conditioning."

Ed chimed in as he joked: "Charlotte is going on strike, not because it's too hot but because it's too cold!" Susanna made sure to point out that they "are not complaining" though.

It comes after meteorologist Michael Silverstone said that the UK may experience its warmest May onset on record, with temperatures expected to climb to "29C or even 30C."

Silverstone stated that if the hot spikes to 30 degrees today, it would mark the earliest date in May that the UK has reached 30 degrees since records began in 1860.

May temperatures have only exceeded 30 degrees eight times since records began, mostly near the end of the month. On Tuesday, the recorded a temperature of 24.9C in Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire, making it the warmest day of the year so far.

Although very warm, it's unlikely that official heatwave criteria will be met. By Friday, temperatures are expected to ease, and Saturday will bring cooler conditions ranging from 14C to 18C across the UK. That means it could be a less than average temperature on Bank Holiday Monday.
