Princess Kate looked absolutely flawless on her wedding day in 2011, but now a makeup artist has debunked a 14-year-old rumour. One of the biggest talking points from her walk down the aisle to wed Prince William was Kate's rumoured decision to do her own makeup for the big day.

However, Bobbi Brown, the founder of the iconic namesake beauty brand, has now clarified that despite being widely reported, Kate did not apply her own makeup. In an episode of Breaking Beauty alongside podcast hosts Carlene Higgins and Jill Dunn, Bobbi Brown discussed the now Princess of Wales' wedding.

She revealed: "I didn't do her makeup. I wish I did. It was one of my artists, Hannah Martin, who's become quite a sensation in the UK."

Kate's bridal makeup included black eyeliner and long black lashes, which she paired with rosy cheeks and a sheer pink lipstick known as Sandwash Pink from brand, Bobbi Brown.

Bobbi Brown also added she had a personal message from Kate's royal team. She said: "I did get a note though, that I have hanging now in my office, not from Kate, but from the person that wrote her letters saying how much she appreciated the makeup."

On April 29, 2011, 2,000 guests gathered inside Westminster Abbey to watch the historic nuptials and outside, millions people gathered around their TVs to catch a glimpse of the royal wedding.

Kate's wedding dress was designed by Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen. The Palace said she had chosen British brand Alexander McQueen for the beauty of its craftsmanship and its respect for traditional workmanship and the technical construction of clothing.

The bride's gown featured handmade lace created by the Royal School of Needlework and an ivory satin Victorian-inspired corset bodice which was "narrowed at the waist and padded at the hips", according to the Palace.

The back of the dress was finished with 58 gazar and organza covered buttons fastened by Rouleau loops. The underskirt was made of silk tulle trimmed with Cluny lace.

The wedding shoes were also hand-made by the team at Alexander McQueen and are made of ivory duchesse satin with lace hand-embroidered by the Royal School of Needlework.

The couple first met in 2001, when William and Kate were both studying at St Andrew's University in Scotland.
