and both climbed into the top four after a feisty London derby ended in a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge. Enzo Maresca made 11 changes from the 8-0 win over FC Noah and gave Cole Palmer a start despite picking up a knock against Manchester United a week ago.
In a dull first half with few chances, Kai Havertz saw his effort chalked off by VAR for offside. But things livened up after the break when Gabriel Martinelli put the visitors in front with an effort at the far post.
Pedro Neto stepped up to equalise midway through the second half on 68 minutes to score his first Premier League goal and despite several chances for both sides, it ended level in west London.
Express Sport analyses the Chelsea player ratings after an even contest on Sunday afternoon.
Robert Sanchez 6
Strong stop to deny Gabriel Martinelli midway through the first half, otherwise wasn't troubled. But the Spaniard was beaten at his front post, for which he will be disappointed.
Malo Gusto 6
Could and should have put the Blues in front but headed over from three yards out. Enjoyed a close battle with Martinelli on the flank, but was left wanting when the Brazilian fired home unmarked.
Wesley Fofana 6
Like Gusto, he was the unlikely man to get a decent chance to score. However, he had Saliba clinging onto him and that made the chance difficult. Defensively, he was assured at the back, producing a performance that Chelsea would expect from their £70million defender.
Levi Colwill 5
Scythed down Bukayo Saka to earn himself a booking early on and that put him on edge. Then was caught napping for Havertz's goal, which fortunately for him was ruled to be offside. Played Martinelli onside for the opener too, summing up a bad day for the centre-back.
Marc Cucurella 7
Handed the stiff task of marking Saka ahead of Reece James, the Spaniard demonstrated his determination as he closed down the winger at every opportunity. Booked.
Moises Caicedo 6
With no James or Enzo Fernandez in the starting XI, the Ecuadorian was a solid choice for the captaincy given his recent displays. He certainly stepped up, making a number of decisive clearances and challenges, and covered every blade of grass.
Romeo Lavia 6
The 20-year-old continues to keep Fernandez out of the team as Maresca handed him a five consecutive start. But there's little to support that on this game, as he struggled to deal with Arsenal's high press. Subsituted after picking up an injury.
Noni Madueke 5
Wasteful with the ball and took pot shots from range despite when there was no space available. Now five games without a goal or assist and he might benefit from a match out of the firing line. Booked for delaying the restart and brought off in the second half - and storming down the tunnel suggests he has some growing up to do.
Cole Palmer 5
Showed no signs of rustiness with a stinging shot after just three minutes. But didn't look 100 per cent fit, nor did he entirely comfortable in an advanced forward alongside Jackson.
Pedro Neto 8
The Portuguese winger provided a fantastic cross early on which should've earned him an assist and he toyed with Ben White on the left. Switched to the right when Mudryk came on and thundered a low rocket into the corner just minutes later for his first Premier League goal for Chelsea.
Nicolas Jackson 6
Tried to drop deep and bring the ball forward and won a few fouls on dangerous areas around the box. His pace and direct running caused Arsenal problems, though his lack of attempts on goal didn't.
Substitutes
Enzo Fernandez (on 68') 7
Two minutes after coming on, he supplied the assist for Neto's goal and breathed life into the midfield. Talk about an instant impact.
Mykhaylo Mudryk (on 68') 6
Initially looked bright but struggled to get involved in the game.
Reece James (on 82') N/A
Christopher Nkunku (on 85') N/A
