BBC Strictly's Chris McCausland 'quite down' as he speaks out after 'big mistake'

Send Push

star has broken his silence after a worrying interview in which he seemed "down".

The blind comedian is currently competing with his professional partner for the glitterball trophy, and has been impressing fans with his fancy footwork and incredible moves.

Now the stand-up has turned to X, formerly Twitter, to share his experience, admitting he was worried over a "pretty big mistake". The star penned: "If I'm honest, I was quite down on myself in that interview clip straight after the dance that was on the results show tonight because I thought I had made a pretty big mistake.

"I realised later that I hadn't. I'm feeling good. Thank you for all of your support!"

Fans rushed to support him on social media, with one writing: "You're wonderful, we all love you Chris!"

Someone else gushed: "I wish you knew how brilliant the vast majority of us think you are. You and Dianne have a wonderful partnership and are embodying the true spirit of Strictly."

While a third social media user wrote: "You never give yourself enough credit. It's madness the skill you have to dance to such a high level. Can't wait to see what's next."

It comes after one of Chris's jokes fell flat on Strictly after he and Dianne paid homage to rock legends KISS with their tango to Rock and Roll All Nite.

As host Tess Daly said: "Listen to that applause Chris, I think Dave Arch enjoyed playing that as much as you enjoyed dancing it!", Chris responded with: "Well you know, dancing a Tango on BBC, I can only imagine someone's got to dance a Fanta now just to balance it out!"

But the joke didn't go down very well, and Chris added on the live show: "Yeah, that was funnier in my head. Shame this isn't pre-recorded, innit?"

Strictly Come Dancing continues this weekend on BBC One and iPlayer.
