Nick Knowles is returning to Strictly Come Dancing this weekend.

The TV presenter's future was uncertain after two recent injuries. He hurt his arm, which forced him to wear a sling and also damaged his knee.

Unfortunately, the star had no choice but to pull out of last week's show. However, he had high hopes he would be returning to the dance floor and was back in rehearsals. After initially needing an MRI to assess his injuries, Nick was relieved to receive the green light to practice for the show.

Knowles and his dance partner Luba Mushtuk are set to perform last week's routine, Rain on the Roof from Paddington 2. However, there were concerns that the Charleston could be especially hard on his knee because of the continuous twisting and turning involved.

Speaking about his future on the show, Knowles previously revealed that he was "very hopeful" about dancing in the studio on Saturday night.

He mentioned that each day his leg felt "a little bit better". While appearing on It Takes Two earlier this week, he shared that if he could make it through two days of training, "it's not necessarily the end of it". He also said that his future on the show would be determined on Friday.

Taking to Instagram, he told his followers: "I have to see how I get on - and then a decision will be made on Friday. I just wanted to take this moment to say thank you for all the well wishes that I've received and encouragement from everybody. And I'm hopeful that I will be dancing on Saturday."

The news comes after Toyah Wilcox was booted from the competition last week.

The singer and actress, 66, became the second celebrity to leave the 20th anniversary series of the BBC dance competition after facing a dance-off against former Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson.

After reprising her samba to the song Poor Unfortunate Souls from The Little Mermaid during the results show on Sunday, the judges unanimously agreed to save Merson and his partner Karen Hauer, sending Willcox and her partner Neil Jones packing.

Appearing on spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two on Monday, she said she was "gutted" to be leaving the show, but was not going to let her early departure blight the "fantastic time" she had.

She added: "I was not off first, which meant a lot to me. I've had the most brilliant life-affirming experience in the last two months, I'm in a good place."
