Amazon Prime Day has arrived, with special discounts during a week-long event (July 8-11). Among the reductions, shoppers will find gardening equipment, including weeding tools, and selected pressure washers.
One of the standout deals is on an award-winning pressure sprayer by Spear & Jackson. The backpack-style 15LPAPS 15-litre tool has been reduced to £36.99, down from £44.90.
It's designed with an ergonomic sprayer bottle for increased comfort. It also has adjustable shoulder straps, which are useful if users are wearing it for long periods of time. It also comes with three extra nozzles.
Spear & Jackson's 15LPAPS 15 Litre device won the Grow Your Own Great British Growing Award in 2022. Amazon's Prime Day deal makes the device cheaper than B&Q's price point, where it is on sale for £50.
More than 200 units have been bought on Amazon in the past month, and there are more than 54,000 reviews. One five-star review reads: "Say hello to your new garden sidekick - the 5-litre pump-action pressure sprayer that means business (and maybe a little mischief). Whether you're fighting off weeds, feeding your plants, or launching a water assault on unsuspecting spiders, this sprayer's got your back.
"With a nozzle that goes from gentle mist to full-on spray mode, a lockable trigger for those long battles, and a hose long enough to reach awkward spots (like behind the shed or your neighbour's envy), it's basically the Swiss Army knife of garden tools."
The shopper went on to praise the translucent bottle as it's easier to 'mix with precision' but added a word of caution: "Just make sure everything's tightly secured unless you fancy a surprise shower. It weighs 5.4kg when full, so maybe skip arm day (at the gym)."
Consumers concerned about the tool's weight might consider a handheld device, such as this Garden Force Jet Hawk Cordless Portable Pressure Washer, £59.99 down from £69.99 at Yimbly.
Shoppers can also save 10% when they use the discount code SUMMERDAYS10 at the checkout throughout July, bringing the price down to £53.99. Yimbly is an online marketplace owned by The Express's parent company, Reach Plc.
Another option is the McGregor Universal Pressure Washer on sale at Argos for £67, down from £100. It's described as a mid range all-rounder, with 450litres of water at 90bar per hour.
Returning to Spear & Jackson's pressure sprayer, another Amazon review said it was a 'great sprayer with well made fittings', but noted a downside, adding: "Only negative is the scale on the tank is in US gallons and US fl.oz - both are smaller than UK measurements.
"My father still uses these units, hadn't realised they were US, so his lawn weedkiller mix was 25% stronger than the manufacturer's instructions and burnt a good bit of the lawn. There is a litre scale that's labelled 'LT' that I've checked is pretty accurately marked."
A third concludes: "Exactly what I needed to wash my bike! Really happy with it, I used to use a bucket and water and now it's so much easier. For my purpose it's fantastic!"
