A tragic fire broke out in a residential high-rise in Mumbai's Lokhandwala Complex, Andheri West, on Wednesday morning, leading to the loss of three lives. The fire, which started in an apartment on the 10th floor of Riya Palace, claimed the lives of two senior citizens and one other resident.
Fire Breaks Out in Lokhandwala Complex The fire erupted at approximately 8:05 AM in the 14-story Riya Palace, located on Cross Road Number 4 in Lokhandwala Complex. According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the blaze was a Level 1 incident, which is considered minor, and was quickly brought under control within an hour by firefighting teams. However, despite the rapid response, three residents suffered critical injuries.
Victims Identified The victims were identified as 74-year-old Chandraprakash Soni, 74-year-old Kanta Soni, and 42-year-old Pelubeta. All three were rushed to Cooper Hospital, but were declared dead on arrival by the hospital's Chief Medical Officer.
Investigations Ongoing The exact cause of the fire remains unknown, and authorities are conducting further investigations to determine how the blaze started.
This unfortunate incident highlights the importance of fire safety measures in residential buildings to prevent such tragedies in the future.
