Bangalore: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Sudhanshu Trivedi has sharply criticized the Congress party regarding the alleged Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam, asserting that the accusations originated from Congress itself. He pointed to the recent decision by the Lokayukta Court of Karnataka, which implicated Congress Chief Minister Siddaramaiah as the primary accused in the case.
During a press conference on Saturday, Trivedi questioned whether Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and AICC President Sonia Gandhi are endorsing “corrupt” leaders within their ranks. He highlighted the significant wealth amassed by Siddaramaiah’s family through the misuse of land and government authority associated with the MUDA, emphasizing the court’s ruling that identifies the Chief Minister as accused number one. Trivedi remarked, “No central agency has investigated this matter, nor has anyone filed an application independently.” He reiterated that the Lokayukta Court’s decision stemmed from allegations initially made by the Congress party itself.
He further criticized Congress President Malikarjun Kharge, suggesting that corruption in Karnataka has escalated under his leadership. “Siddaramaiah has been attempting to shield himself from investigation for the past few months,” he added, noting that it is rare for a sitting Chief Minister to be embroiled in such allegations. A petition has been filed in the Karnataka High Court demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the alleged MUDA scam. The petitioner, Snehamayi Krishna, argued that the central agency should oversee the investigation, given that the Lokayukta operates under the state government, which includes the Chief Minister.
A Special Court in Bengaluru recently directed the Karnataka Lokayukta to investigate the alleged illegal allocation of 14 sites valued at ₹56 crore to Siddaramaiah’s wife, Parvathi, by the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA).
