BJP Will Breathe Easy After Ending Misrule in Jharkhand, Says Shivraj Singh Chouhan

Ranchi: Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party's election in-charge for Jharkhand, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, expressed confidence that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will emerge victorious in the upcoming assembly elections in Jharkhand. He stated that the BJP would feel a sense of relief only after ending the "misrule" of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Congress.

Chouhan announced that the BJP will contest the elections in alliance with the All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU), Janata Dal (United) (JDU), and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP). As per the current agreement, AJSU will contest 10 seats, JDU will field candidates in 2 seats, LJP will contest the single seat of Chatra, and the BJP will contest the remaining 68 seats.

"In Jharkhand, BJP, AJSU, JDU, and LJP will contest the elections together. An agreement on seat-sharing has been reached, and candidates will be announced soon. We will take a sigh of relief only after ending the misrule of the INDI bloc's Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and Congress," Chouhan stated during a press conference.

Accompanying him were state BJP president Babulal Marandi, AJSU Chief Sudesh Mahato, and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is also co-incharge of elections in Jharkhand. Following the press conference, the former Chief Minister reiterated his confidence in the NDA's victory, stating, "It is perfect seat sharing, and we are winning. The NDA is forming the government."

The Election Commission announced that Jharkhand is set to vote in two phases on November 13 and 20, with votes being counted on November 23. A total of 2.60 crore voters are eligible to cast their votes in Jharkhand, comprising 1.31 crore male and 1.29 crore female voters, along with 11.84 lakh first-time voters.

In the previous assembly elections, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha won 30 seats, the Bharatiya Janata Party secured 25 seats, and Congress won 16 seats. In the 2014 assembly elections, the BJP won 37 seats, while JMM won 19 and Congress secured only 6 seats.
