Apple's M4 Macs: What to Expect from the Launch Next Week

Send Push

Apple is reportedly gearing up to launch its new M4 Mac next week. Renowned tech analyst Mark Gurman announced on social media that the launch is “imminent,” potentially taking place on October 30 or the day before.

In a follow-up post, Gurman indicated that Apple plans to invite journalists and content creators for an event next Wednesday, after the Macs are introduced. The tech giant is expected to release its first Macs powered by the M4 chip shortly, as both Gurman and leaker Sonny Dickson have hinted. Gurman’s clues align with Apple's busy schedule, which includes the launch of Apple Intelligence on Monday and earnings reports on Thursday.

The anticipation for the new M4 Mac has intensified, particularly after Apple invited media representatives to an event in Los Angeles next Wednesday. This invitation has fueled speculation that the Mac launch might occur before this date.

Despite the excitement, Gurman did not confirm the exact day for the M4 Mac's debut. Meanwhile, Dickson has hinted at the possibility of a new Mac mini model featuring five USB-C ports arriving even sooner, possibly this week. While Dickson has a mixed track record with predictions about Apple products, his insights have often pointed towards upcoming releases.

Among the rumored products are:

A new entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro based on the M4 chip. Upgraded 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models powered by the more advanced M4 Pro and M4 Max chips, respectively. A completely redesigned iMac utilizing the M4 chip. A refreshed Mac mini with two front-facing USB-C ports, available in M4 or M4 Pro configurations, resembling an Apple TV. USB-C versions of Apple's Magic Mouse, Magic Trackpad, and Magic Keyboard accessories.

Some rumors suggest that the 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M4 chip was teased in unboxing videos last month, which indicated that these M4 Macs could launch in November 2024. If true, the announcement might come next week, but the devices may not reach customers until later.

Apple might conduct a webcast for the M4 Mac launch, similar to last year's "Scary Fast" event, or they could simply release a statement via the Apple Newsroom. Either way, official news is expected soon.
