An Air India Express flight made an emergency landing at Ayodhya's Maharishi Valmiki International Airport in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday due to a bomb threat, according to a senior official. The flight had taken off from Jaipur and was en route to Ayodhya when the threat was received.
The bomb threat, directed at flight IX 765, came through a phone call shortly after the aircraft departed from Jaipur at 12:25 pm. The Boeing 737 Max8, carrying the call sign AXB765, landed safely at Ayodhya airport by 1:59 pm.
Following the landing, passengers were safely evacuated, and the aircraft was moved to an isolated area of the airport. Bomb disposal and dog squads immediately began combing the plane for any suspicious items.
This incident occurred just a day after another bomb threat forced an Air India flight from Mumbai to New York to be diverted to Delhi. Security agencies were informed, and the aircraft landed safely at Indira Gandhi International Airport.
In light of these recurring threats, airport authorities across the country have been on high alert. Earlier this month, bomb threats were also reported at Indore's Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar International Airport and Vadodara Airport, prompting increased security measures.
