The West Indies Cricket Board has taken strict action against its fast bowler Alzari Joseph on Friday, November 8. The board has punished him for bad behavior on the field and suspended him for 2 ODI matches. Actually, during the third ODI match between England and West Indies, Alzari Joseph clashed with captain Shai Hope during the live match regarding field setting. Hope did not set the field according to his wish, so he got angry and suddenly left the field. Due to this, West Indies had to play with 10 players for one over.
After this incident, Alzari Joseph admitted his mistake and apologized to Captain Shai Hope. After apologizing to the captain, he also issued a public apology. This West Indies fast bowler wrote in his apology 'My passion got the better of me. I have personally apologized to the captain and the team management. Now I also apologize wholeheartedly to the West Indies fans. A slight mistake in any decision can have a huge impact on the game and I deeply regret my mistake.'
After winning the series by defeating England in the third ODI, West Indies head coach Darren Sammy gave his reaction on this matter. He said that he is trying to create a good team culture and this kind of behavior will not be tolerated at all. He will definitely talk to Alzari Joseph about this. At the same time, Captain Shai Hope refused to give any statement on this matter. Hope said that such incidents happen many times on the field.
During the first innings against England on Thursday, 7 November, Alzari Joseph came to bowl in the fourth over. During this time, captain Shai Hope had placed two slips for the new batsman. Alzari Joseph was not happy with this field. He asked to remove one slip and place it at the point. He kept expressing his displeasure over this throughout the over. He was also seen arguing once after taking the wicket. But Captain Hope did not listen to him, due to which Alzari left the field in anger.
