A shocking murder case emerged from Sinjo village, Palamu district, Jharkhand, where a 16-year-old newlywed bride conspired with her lover to kill her husband barely 45 days after their marriage. The incident, which took place on July 31, highlights the tragic results of forced marriage and hidden relationships.
The Crime and Motive
According to the police, the minor girl was forced into marrying Sarfaraz, a young man from Dahi village in Latehar district, on June 22. The marriage was conducted under family pressure, even though the girl was in love with another man. Just days after the wedding, the couple began living separately, hinting at underlying problems.
Desperate to be with her boyfriend, the teenage bride and her lover made a plan to eliminate Sarfaraz. On July 31, she lured her husband into a forest area under the pretense of a private meeting. The unsuspecting husband was then ambushed by the waiting boyfriend. Together, the two crushed Sarfaraz to death with stones and covered his body with leaves to hide the crime.
Police Investigation and Arrests
Superintendent of Police Reshma Rameshan confirmed that the wife was quickly arrested based on evidence and her own confession. She told the police she wanted to marry her lover and saw murder as the only escape from the unwanted marriage. The boyfriend, who actively participated in the murder, remains on the run, and a manhunt is underway to apprehend him.
